Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) is the Army’s “Home of Innovation;” one of the nations most diversified military installations with more than 90 tenant organizations and the Army’s leading center for state-of-the-art technology. If a Soldier uses any piece of equipment for situational awareness or to shoot, move or communicate, chances are an APG organization developed, tested and fielded it.

With more than 72,500 acres across land and water, APG is not only mission focused, but strong environmental stewards of its 144 miles of Upper Chesapeake shoreline which is home to hundreds of bald eagles.

APG History

APG is the oldest active installation in the nation, established in 1917 and has been transformational in technology while preserving its history and heritage here within Harford County and the Chesapeake Science and Security Corridor (CSSC). The APG community was named a 2018 Great American Defense Community by the Association of Defense Communities (ADC).
